 Berlin, Germany - The members of the 2007 WOMEX jury, known as the 7 Samurai will meet 25-27 May to listen to the over 550 (so far) showcase proposals received.
"We're still unpacking and counting," said a WOMEX press release. "Many new
artists and quite a selection of conference proposals as well... We'll be tabulating the results and contacting the selected artists for their confirmations by mid-June. Since some substitutions inevitably have to be made, we aim to formally announce the results by mid-July, if not sooner."
Performing at a WOMEX showcase is very important for musicians because the event is attended by numerous presenters and programmers of the top folk and world music festivals and venues in Europe and North America.
