Zar

Tusind Tanker (Tame, 2006)

Denmark is producing excellent contemporary folk bands lately. Zar recreates Danish folk and mixes it with Irish-style arrangements and other elements such as American bluegrass and country rock, and Gypsy Jazz.

The group features the striking lead vocals of female singer of Sine Lauritsen and a variety of stringed instruments including fiddle, acoustic bass, viola, guitar, bouzouki and mandolin, played by inspired musicians who studied at Danish music academies.

Zar performs its own compositions as well as traditional pieces (polkas, waltzes, rheinlaender) from various parts of Denmark. The line is: Sine Lauritsen -  Vocal; Christopher Davis Maack: Fiddle; Andreas Tophøj Rasmussen - Fiddle; Rasmus Zeeberg - Guitar, mandolin;
Steffan S. Sørensen: Double-bass, fiddle.

Buy Tusind Tanker.
