Born in Samana, Dominican Republic. Aris arrived to New York City in 1975. In 1994, he graduated from Bronx Community College (New York), receiving an Associate degree in Music. From 1988 to 1991, Aris sang lead vocal for a Latin group known as Carabali (Island Record). Pianist, Oscar Hernandez (Seis Del Solar) directed this group. In

In 1997, Aris Martinez's first Salsa CD was released, Aris y Su Combinacion, produced by Ricky Gonzalez on A&E Latin Music.
