Verd e Bleu is an Occitan group of traditional music from Gascony, France, created in 1987. For the past twenty years they have collected, learned, produced and spread the traditional music and dance of the Gascon province of France, in all its wealth and diversity. This is a strong foundation that they are anxious to transmit . Indeed, much of their time is spent training dancers and musicians. Their reputation leads them to intervene not only throughout Occitania (including the Val d'Aran in Spain and the Occitan valleys of Italy) but also in other parts of Europe. The musicians play music as they have discovered it themselves or as it has been transmitted to them by collectors. Theirs is a singular repertoire, different to the traditional music played in France (which is essentially instrumental). The human voice has a central part. This originality makes Verd E Blu stand out . Most of their repertoire is traditional but a third of the titles are original. This mix corresponds to a choice, to marry tradition and modernism. The instruments played are: Three hole whistle and string tambourine (ton-ton), bagpipes from the Landes (boha), diatonic accordions, percussion (brama-topin rub drum, tricanetas castanets) and voice. Joan-Frances Tisner - Voice, diatonic accordions, percussion, creations. Crestian Josuer - Three hole whistle and string tambourine, diatonic accordions. Marc Castanet - Bagpipes from the Landes (Boha), diatonic accordions |
