Fabian Nodarse Perdomo was born in Havana, Cuba, on June 19th, 1974. 'When I was young, I thought the world of sports. At the age of seven, I was selected by a comission to go to the sportsschool. Basketball was my favorite. I studied sports for six years, not realizing that music was my destination. I come from a musical family. My grandfather, de well known musician Marco Perdomo, was the singer and founder of the Orquesta Sublime. He was also a great writer. He wrote a lot of popular songs such as 'El bobo de la yuca', 'Lamparitas de noche' and others. Some time after this Benny More recorded 'El bobo de la yuca'. It's still a song that everybody knows in Cuba. My grandfather taught me the beauty of music. He was my inspiration and it was because of him that I got to know the world of music. I remember that when I was little I used to visit him and his house was always full of musicians practicing. I realize now that this was the beginning for me. I carried music in my veins. When I started secondary school I decided for the school of music. I took extra singing lessons in the theater of Havana 'Federico Garcia Lorca?. At the same time I started to perform in bands. This was a great learning experience for me. The 'street' has been very important to my education. ' Since the year 1999 Fabian lives in Holland. He was able to continue his singing career there. He's been the main singer of the Dutch salsa orquestra Rumbata and has sang with Banda Ire, Latin feeling, and Eric y su Chocolate. In the few years that he's been living in Holland he has played many theaters and festivals and he has toured in Colombia, Cuba, Curacao, Italy and Greece. He has been able to play with fantastic musicians; many of them Latin, but also from Holland and from Germany. Fabian teaches singing at the Rotterdam Conservatorium, in the Department of Latin Jazz. Fabian is also a song writer. That's why he decided to make his own CD and start his own band. The result is Renacer, which means 'being born again' and that is what Fabian feels now that he is living his dream. Fabian and his band play a variation of Latin styles such as salsa, Latin-pop, balada and fusion. |
