Mazagan created the 'shaabi groove' (also known as chaabi and sha'abi), a
great mixture of Moroccan rural singing and urban sounds. Mazagan revolutionized
Moroccan popular music by incorporating reggae, ragga, shaabi, rock, Alawi (Alaoui),
Jazz, funk, etc. The group defines its music as a well spiced sauce, a true
sound crossroads.
Since the release of its first album “The tradition which flows” at the end of
2005, Mazagan reformed and started playing at the largest Moroccan, African and
European festivals.
