Musician Kuljit Sodhi sent the following report: The city of Ottawa is the Federal capital of Canada, located in the province of Ontario. The world music scene in Ottawa, Canada, is probably not as big as Toronto but the world music is very alive here. Some of the greatest musicians traveling around the world live in Ottawa and in fact pass through the Ottawa Scene. The Mighty Popo and Galitcha have been touring domestically and internationally. The folk festival, www.ottawafolk.org, jazz festival, and blues festival have been active in producing world music stages and, of course, The Black Sheep Inn brings some of the world's greatest known acts. Ottawa even has a world music mail list server that can be reached at ottawaworldmusic@yahoogroups.com. |
